Award winning documentary by Bičevje Primary School
A group of pupils at the Bičevje Primary School won numerous awards at international festivals for their documentary A Small Step for a Man, a Giant Smile for Mankind.
A group of eight-graders at Bičevje Primary School working under the mentorship of teachers Bernarda Avsenik and Alenka Fajfar Gnezda made a documentary on the topic of sustainable development and human rights titled »A Small Step for a Man, a Giant Smile for Mankind« (Majhen korak za človeka, velik nasmeh za človeštvo). Their documentary was immensely successful at numerous international festivals and received many awards:
best foreign documentary award at the Toronto Film Festival (December 2016),international excellence award at the Bali International Film Festival (December 2016),filmmaker of the year golden award at the Jakarta International Film Festival (December 2016),nomination for the best humanitarian film at the TheModCon London Film Festival (December 2016),golden world tolerance award at the Jakarta International Film Festival (December 2016),golden world human rights award at the Jakarta International Film Festival (December 2016),best educational film at the Kolkata International Film Festival (December 2016),best feature documentary award in California (January 2017).
