Two Golden Pencils for Ljubljana projects
Two Ljubljana projects won a professional award the Golden Pencil this year, i.e. Navigability study of Ljubljanica River and RCERO Ljubljana.
The Golden Pencil award is granted for the highest achievements in architecture, landscape architecture and spatial planning with the aim to promote high quality architecture and arrangements of open space in the public and raise awareness on cultural and creative dimensions of design, engineering and spatial planning. The award is given to projects that contribute to the development of local environment.
Navigability Study of Ljubljanica River
Potential of the Ljubljanica River was recognised already in 2011 by the City of Ljubljana and municipalities of Vrhnika, Borovnica and Brezovica which entered a common project of designing the waterway and harbours from Vrhnika to the Moste Gate. Their ambitious plans encompassing the whole navigability system on the Ljubljanica River, waterway, waterway objects and their maintenance, designations of important crossings and their arrangements were put into a fundamental document by an expert group of architects, landscape architects, construction experts and biologists.
The study of the Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region (i.e. RRA LUR) was conducted by Locus d.o.o.
