On Saturday, 24 October 2015, preschool children runs, promotional primary school runs, high school runs and the FUN run were held. On Sunday, 25 October 2015, runners competed in the 10-kilometer run, half marathon and marathon. Over 24,500 runners participated, the highest number so far. The fastest runner Limenih Getachew set the course record at 2:08:19.

Zero Waste pledge

Before the start of the marathon, Mayor Zoran Janković, the director of the marathon Gojko Zalokar and the director of the waste management company JP Snaga Janko Kramžar signed the Zero Waste pledge by which the Organisation Committee of the Marathon has bound itself to hold future marathons as Zero Waste events, and by doing so to contribute to a clean environment, sustainable use of resources and a smaller carbon footprint.

The participants of the Ljubljana Marathon were able to take the city buses free-of-charge to the start line, and also in keeping with sustainable guidelines free parking was made available at all parking areas P+R in Ljubljana.
