Countdown to the European Women's Handball Championship

We have launched a countdown clock set up on the New Square, which is counting down the time until the start of the European Women's Handball Championship (EHF EURO 2022) in November, held in the Stožice Hall as one of the locations.

This year's championship will be much more than just a sporting event, as the organizers are also placing a strong emphasis on the empowerment and equality of women and the promotion of their role in our society. They have chosen 17 ambassadors of the championship, all of them successful and exceptional women, each broadening horizons in their field, improving our everyday life, helping society and proving how important women are for our world.

As Deputy Mayor Tjaša Ficko pointed out in her address, she was happy to accept the invitation extended by the Handball Federation of Slovenia to become an ambassador of the championship, primarily because of the emphasis on the sustainable organization of the event and the empowerment of women. Deputy Mayor Tjaša Ficko led the team that was responsible for making Ljubljana the European Green Capital 2016, and last year Ljubljana was declared the best green capital of Europe.

As part of the activities for the empowerment of women, we also set up the first pedestrian traffic lights with female figures in Ljubljana. They are erected at four intersections.

Stožice Hall is again hosting a top-level competition

The host countries of this year's championship are Slovenia, Macedonia and Montenegro, and in addition to the introductory part of the championship, the final fights and the grand finale will take place in the Stožice Hall.
