Designer award for the mobile youth centre Ljuba and Drago
With our project of transforming a city bus into a mobile youth centre Ljuba and Drago we won the BIG SEE Interior Design Award 2020.
With the BIG SEE AWARDS the Zavod Big is systematically exploring, highlighting and promoting the business and creative potential of the South-East European region in architecture, interior, product and fashion design, innovative carpentry and creative tourism. The awards, aimed at the promotion of business and creative excellence in South-East Europe, provide an in-depth insight into the state-of-play in the area of creativity in the region.
Who and what is Ljuba and Drago?
Ljuba and Drago is a mobile youth centre set up in a decommissioned city bus. The renovation project of an old city bus transformed into a mobile youth centre is a result of the cooperation between the public institute Young Dragons and the public company LPP. The project was carried out in 2019, it was designed in line with the sustainable design planning mindset, and the youth was led and guided by experienced experts following the »learning by doing« principle.
The Ljuba and Drago space was co-created by the design bureau Trije arhitekti (Andrej Mercina, Renata Smrkolj), Zavod Rompom (Andraž Tarman), Preoblikovalnica (Andrej Kurent) and Creative Nomads (Tadeja B. Atkins). The sponsor of the green roof Urbanscape – Grow at Home is Knauf Insulation d.o.o.. The project was made possible also by Donar d.o.o., Varesi d.o.o., the public company Ljubljanska parkirišča in tržnice d.o.o. and SAM d.o.o. The young co-authors of the project are Tina Ivnik, David Vavtar, Petra Dermota, Lea Dolinar, Katarina Žniderič, Teja Samsa, Eva Sešek, Analina Štumberger, Zia Perko Rogelj, Matic Lesjak, Timeja Liplin, Petra Filipič, Evelin Radulović and Tana Logar.
