Educating the youngest cyclists
We are promoting cycling among kindergarten children, we are teaching them cycling skills and acquainting them with the importance of cycling safety as part of the pilot project Feet on the Pedals or »Bike kindergarten« which is running in the Trnovo Kindergarten. We are presenting the project within the framework of the preparations for the world's largest cycling conference Velo-city 2022.
From small age to big cyclists
We are convinced that children, who learn the rules of safe cycling from their very first cycling steps, will certainly follow them when they grow up. While implementing other preventive projects, we found that children are the best teachers to their parents, so we believe that the children from Trnovo Kindergarten will encourage their parents to bring them to the kindergarten by bicycle instead of by car and continue their daily journeys through the city using bikes. In this way, we will also influence the changes in adult citizens' travel habits.
Pilot project Bike kindergarten
As part of the pilot project Bike kindergarten, we purchased six quality balance bikes, six bicycles of various sizes, helmets and other didactic equipment, which will help the kindergarten to promote children's cognitive, sensory, dexterity and motor skills and teach them cycling safety. We are convinced that the children from the Trnovo Kindergarten will not only learn to ride bicycles but will also gain the skills and knowledge to drive the world in the right – more environment- and health-friendly – direction.
