EMW 2024: We have opened the eighth bike park already
At the Polje Primary School, we have opened already the eighth bike park in Ljubljana.
This is one of the permanent measures of this year's European Mobility Week, the biggest international campaign to promote sustainable mobility, which the City of Ljubljana is joining for the 23rd year in a row already. The total area of the bike park is 920 m2, of which 385 m2 is asphalt course, 520 m2 is green areas, and 15 m2 is drainage areas. The work was carried out by the company Planapark d.o.o., the value of the investment is almost 76,000 EUR without VAT. At the bike park course entrance, there is an information board with the rules of use and the right direction of travel.
Bike parks are designed as public areas for active spending of free time for visitors of all age groups. They are primarily intended for playing and skill training with various types of driving aids, everything from bicycles, kick scooters, skateboards, rollerblades and rollerskates to push cars. They are laid out as undulating asphalt paths, grass is planted around the track, and the area is completed with benches and bike racks.
Mayor Zoran Janković also attended the opening, expressing his satisfaction with the bike park and wishing all users safe skill training on uneven surfaces.
So far, we have set up bike parks in Podutik, Cesta v Gorice, Štepanjsko naselje, Fužine, Bežigrad, Šiška, and there is another bike park in the new neighbourhood of Novo Brdo.
