In May last year, on Slovenia’s initiative the Council of Europe has declared 18 November the European Day for Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse.

Its aim is above all to raise awareness on the necessity of preventing and reporting all forms of abuse of children and providing victims of such crimes with adequate support. Namely, sexual abuse of children is a serious violation of children’s rights and can have long-lasting detrimental consequences for their entire life. For awareness-raising purposes the Council of Europe produced a video titled »Tell someone you trust«. You are invited to watch it.
On the occasion, passers-by can find out more about the topic of sexual exploitation and abuse of children at the stand of the Association against Sexual Abuse set up in Prešeren Square.
