In Memoriam – Prof Dr France Bučar

On 20 October 2015, the Honorary Citizen of Ljubljana Prof Dr France Bučar passed away at the age of 93. To honour his memory the City Council of Ljubljana held a commemorative sitting.

 The Honorary Citizen and esteemed professor Dr France Bučar was one of the most piercing Slovenian intellectuals, a national liberation fighter and an advocate for the independence of Slovenia, the father of the Slovenian constitution, the first president of the Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia from 1990 till 1992, an active member of the Slovene PEN Centre and the president of the Slovenian Paneuropean Movement for over 20 years.
He was an exceptional analytical and critical thinker who with his social vision and broad professional knowledge, fundamental literary woks defining historical and contemporary aspects of Slovenian identity and high moral reputation remains the heart, the reason and the conscience of Slovenians and Europeans.

We will be deeply mourned and missed greatly. Glory to his memory!
