Ljubljana, European Green Capital, has entered into the sixth month of the green year, the theme of which is energy efficiency. On 22 June, the European Green Capital 2018 is going to be announced in Ljubljana!

In charge of the June theme is the public energy company Energetika Ljubljana which is, together with the City of Ljubljana and in cooperation with different operators, organising numerous free-of-charge activities and events at the information office Point.For you. and across Ljubljana on the theme of energy efficiency in our everyday lives.
The June programme is divided into several topics which are going to be presented through various events with the aim of raising awareness, educating and promoting activities for the production and conservation of energy:
•    Physical efficiency for beautiful energy
This set of events is devoted to energy efficiency of our body. The set is going to start with the dance event »Dancing is energy – let’s create the pulse of life« on Wednesday, 1 June, at Stritar Street. The dancers from the Pro Dance Studio dance school are going to translate the energy of music into body movements and by doing so make the centre of Ljubljana feel their pulse. The set is going to continue with mountain runs and energy, that is, yoga workshops and conclude with the opening of the renovated path around the mountain Šmarna gora which falls within the framework of the project Šmarna gora: from sunrise to sunrise.
•    Energy counselling – all energy sources for the comfort in your home
Visitors to the information office Point.For you. can ask the representatives of Energetika Ljubljana and the ENSVET advisory network to recommend the most appropriate heating system for their needs, and for advice in the broader field of energy use and with regard to obtaining subsidies.
•    My city – my air
The spotlight is on the set up of the cyanometer, a 3.3 m high monolith in the centre of Ljubljana, which is going to measure the blueness of the sky and indicate the quality of air in Ljubljana. Within this set of events a lot of attention is going to be devoted to environment-friendly cars powered by methane – in theory and practice.

The programme at the office Point.For you. is going to be complemented by activities in the district communities Posavje and Rudnik and numerous other events.

In June the information office Point. For you. is open every day from 10.00 till 20.00.

District communities – European Green Capital 2016 ambassadors

Ljubljana’s district communities are actively participating in the programme of the green capital, namely, till the end of the year each one is going to serve as a green ambassador for three weeks. The current ambassador is the district community Jarše which is passing the baton to the district community Posavje on 6 June. The latter is going to hold the ambassadorship until 27 June when it is going to be succeeded by the district community Rudnik.

The announcement of the European Green Capital 2018

On 22 June, the European Green Capital 2018 is going to be announced at a ceremony in Ljubljana. Competing for the title are Dutch cities ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Nijmegen and Umeå in Sweden.
