Kolopark and Bike Park Ljubljana

The green measures of this year’s European Mobility Week focused on cyclists include the bicycle park KoloPark, a new recreational area next to Celovška Street, and the expansion of the Bike Park Ljubljana.

KoloPark

The bicycle park KoloPark transformed a brownfield site into a recreational area for play and learning skills with different vehicles from bicycles, kick scooters, rollerblades and rollerskates to push cars.
The KoloPark spans over 905 m2, it is set up as a grass area with a training site for learning skills. It also includes individual pieces of urban equipment and other elements: benches, light fixtures, new trees and a shaded wooden terrace. At the entrance there is a concrete platform with a protection wall and sitting surfaces.
Within the scope of the park there is a self-service bike workshop, where people can inflate their tires, use the provided keys to change the tires and other tools for minor repairs on their bicycles which will increase mobility as well as traffic safety.
There is no admission charge for the park.

Bike Park Ljubljana

Last year the first construction phase of the Bike Park Ljubljana was concluded and now the new part of the park is open in Podutik. A dirt road already connects both parts of the park and in the third phase a singletrack is planned between the two sites, as well as numerous additional trails.
The Bike Park Ljubljana is intended for mountain bikers, not forgetting the youngest bikers. In the first part of the park there is a training site for learning basic cycling skills, and the newly opened part of the park includes a short climb and three different downhill slopes with small and slightly bigger jumps, berms, turns and waves. Those who want to take it slow can pass all jumps, while the more skilled and experienced bikers can lay off the breaks and jump over obstacles.
The terrain is ideal for learning, either on one’s own or in the company of a mountain biking instructor.
Because of its location the park is also a good starting point for cycling excursions to the hills Klobuk and Toško čelo or even further in the Polhov Gradec Hills.
The team Alliance provided the trail plans, the cycling association Rajd is responsible for the implementation and programmes, and the City of Ljubljana gave the land for the park.
