Ljubljana castle receives crystal triglav

The Ljubljana Castle Public Institute is the recipient of the Crystal Triglav, an award for the highest achievements in Slovenian tourism, as selected by FIJET Slovenia – the Association of Slovenian Travel Journalists at the 14th Days of Slovenian Tourism event.

The members of FIJET Slovenia – the Association of Slovenian Travel Journalists have stated in the award commentary: "In the last three years, the Institute has demonstrated that with carefully organised content, preservation of cultural heritage, order, accessibility, friendliness, innovative products in their tourist offer and communication with local and foreign public, they can intertwine history and the present in every step. When established in 2012, the Ljubljana Castle has set a goal of one million visitors to the central tourist point in the city, which was almost achieved in 2012, and exceeded in 2013 with 1,016,829 visitors to the Castle. The coming year marks the 110th anniversary of the Ljubljana Castle as the city's property. Their achievements so far and daring initiatives, which will be supported in the future as well by their founder – the City of Ljubljana – are a realisation of visions, written down by the Mayor at the time, Ivan Hribar, in 1905, when established."

The Director of the Ljubljana Castle, Mateja Avbelj Valentan, said upon receiving the award: "After the successful tourist season of the past nine months this year, after over 920,000 visitors detected by our crossing counters this year only, and after the two millionth passenger on the funicular, my colleagues and I are justifiably delighted and proud of the received award."
