Between 23 September and 8 October, the traditional Ljubljana Countryside Festival is under way in Ljubljana with numerous activities aimed at bringing the Ljubljana countryside closer to city residents.

Ljubljana can boast that as much as two thirds of our city represents the so-called green belt with 815 farms which preserve the cultural landscape and supply the whole city with locally produced vegetables and fruit.
The Ljubljana Countryside Festival wants to present this area with everything it offers and bring it closer to the city residents through various events and activities. Among them are:

Apple Week in Ljubljana

The days from 23 until 30 September revolve around apples in the restaurant Druga violina (Second Violin) in Old Square: they are serving dishes prepared with apples produced in Ljubljana and organising creative workshops for children where they are learning about the important dietary role of apples, while producers of apples and apple products are represented at a stand set up in front of the information office Point.For you. next to the City Hall. During the Apple Week numerous other restaurants in Ljubljana, in cooperation with Ljubljana Tourism, are expanding their offer of traditional apple dishes selected by Prof Dr Janez Bogataj from different cookbooks. The revival of the culinary tradition through the project Tastes of Ljubljana is part of the strategy for the development of sustainable services in Ljubljana.

Honey Day

On Saturday, 8 October 2016, between 9.00 and 14.00, the Bee Path producers are going to introduce themselves on Stritar Street. In addition, the winners of the contest for the most beautiful photo of flowers on a balcony or a windowsill, launched in spring within the framework of the project »Let’s help the city bee« organised by the City of Ljubljana and BTC, are going to be announced.
