Ljubljana has entered into the green year

On 13 January 2016, an introductory event was held in front of the City Hall marking the entry into the year when Ljubljana holds the title European Green Capital. At the same time the information office Point.For you. opened its doors offering a diversified program throughout the year.

At the introductory event to which all residents of Ljubljana were invited we switched on the green light, raised the European Green Capital 2016 flag and officially opened the information office Point.For you. The district community Črnuče, the first European Green Capital 2016 ambassador, took up the baton of ambassadorship.

One of the highlights of the introductory event was the heart installation equipped with a stethoscope that measures heart rate. The first to record his heartbeat was the Mayor Zoran Janković, and residents of Ljubljana as well as other passers-by are also invited to record their heart beating for Ljubljana.

The information office Point.For you. is open daily, from 10.00 till 18.00 in winter, and two hours longer in summer, that is, till 20.00. Every day a diverse program with monthly themes of the green year is offered accompanied by numerous workshops.
The month of January is dedicated to the topic »smart waste management« aligned with the program offered by the Point.For you. and prepared by the public company Snaga in cooperation with the ambassador of the month the District Community Črnuče, public institutes of the City of Ljubljana, schools, kindergartens and non-governmental organisations.

Two wooden pavilions connected by a green roof housing the Point.For you. were built for Ljubljana, European Green Capital 2016, by the company Riko and its partners – Knauf Insulation d.o.o., Leopold Fenster, Ključavničarstvo Marinčič, Esprit d.o.o. Škofja loka and 3biro. The electronic paper displays are provided by the company Visionect.
