LPP buses now running to Domžale
On Tuesday, 1 October 2024, LPP buses will also start running to Domžale.
The long-awaited integrated lines 12 D and 21 D will connect Bežigrad, Dragomelj, Ježica and Beričevo with Domžale, enabling passengers to travel faster, cheaper and easier. With this pilot project, we are considerably improving the accessibility of public passenger transport in this area.
Line 12 D will significantly shorten the journey between Domžale and Ljubljana, which is an important advantage for daily migrants, while line 21 D will increase accessibility especially for residents of Ihan, as it will enable a faster connection to Ljubljana and then a transfer to other city bus lines. The introduction of lines 12 D and 21 D is an important step towards the further integration of public transport, where passengers can travel and transfer between different types of public transport with a single ticket.
The result of successful cooperation
The new lines, which are the result of successful cooperation between the City of Ljubljana, the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy, the Public Passenger Transport Management Company (DUJPP), the Municipality of Domžale and the public company LPP, introduce a better connection between Ljubljana and its surroundings and contribute significantly to the realization of the goals of sustainable mobility in Ljubljana.
Mayor Zoran Janković thanked the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Energy, Bojan Kumer, MSc, for the support we received for the first time in 17 years, because that is how long we have been trying to connect Ljubljana and Domžale with a bus line. He also thanked his colleague, the Mayor of Domžale, Renata Kosec, MSc, and praised her for persevering. »Above all, I commend the colleagues at the public company LPP headed by director Peter Horvat, who already provide public passenger transport in eight municipalities around Ljubljana and now in the ninth, in Domžale, for the new achievement. I am proud that, based on many years of professional experience, they continue to provide uninterrupted and high-quality services, and problems, if any arise, are solved immediately, because the satisfaction of passengers always comes first«, the Mayor also stressed. Minister Bojan Kumer, MSc, said that in addition to better connections between cities, a new era in the field of tickets is also starting today: »Until now, only subsidized tickets between intercity and city transport have been integrated, but now we are also introducing the so-called workers' tickets. This makes all »Slovenia« tickets valid for both intercity and city transport in Ljubljana. This is a big step towards simplifying travel, and I believe that in the future this kind of integration will come to life also in other Slovenian cities.«
Mayor of the Municipality of Domžale Renata Kosec, MSc, emphasized that today is a great holiday and a historic step forward for the Municipality of Domžale: »After almost two decades, we managed to establish an integrated line all the way to Domžale. And not just one, but two. I would like to thank everyone with whom we worked intensively in recent months to bring the project to life: the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Energy Bojan Kumer, MSc, and the Mayor of the City of Ljubljana Zoran Janković, the directors Miran Sečki at DUJPP and Peter Horvat at LPP and their colleagues, and last but not least to all my colleagues in the Municipality of Domžale, where it all began. Together, we proved that nowadays it is possible to connect, cooperate, listen and help each other. That's why such an exceptional project was able to succeed, which we wanted to highlight with our project name: Domžale – Ljubljana – a heartfelt connection.«
