In the City of Ljubljana we are well aware of the importance of safety, that is why we are focusing a lot of attention on ensuring and upholding public safety, and are organizing different events, activities, consultations and conferences to this end.

In past years many of our activities were directed towards ensuring and upholding greater general public safety with an emphasis on the self-protective behaviour of people, and we are increasingly aware of the significance of digital solutions in the field of security, that is why we, together with the Ministry of Public Administration, which is managing the Open Data Portal Slovenia – OPSI, and the Police, are among the initiators of the Hackathon project – the technological challenge »Create new digital solutions in the field of security and mobility«.

Ljubljana – the safest city

From the very beginning the City of Ljubljana has been participating in the »Slovenian Grand Security Awards« and has received three prestigious awards in the »Safest City« category, namely, the »Safest City in the Republic of Slovenia« in 2015, 2016 and 2018.
The Slovenian Grand Security Award is the highest recognition in the field of security in the Republic of Slovenia awarded to select institutions and individuals for their innovative contribution in the area of safety development and implementation.

A member of the Slovenian Corporate Security Association

Our efforts and activities with regard to our approach to addressing the general security issue, ensuring the highest level of security for our citizens and crime prevention were recognised and positively evaluated at ICT – Institute for Corporate Security Studies, which welcomed the City of Ljubljana among the members of the Slovenian Corporate Security Association, which brings together legal entities and natural persons in the field of corporate security and other related areas.

In the City of Ljubljana we are extremely proud not only to receiving the »Safest City of the Republic of Slovenia« award but also of becoming a member of the Slovenian Corporate Security Association, and at the same time this obliges us to continue the active policy of our endeavours which can significantly contribute to a higher level of safety for our citizens while ensuring a safe living and working environment which is, among other things, interesting for investments and economic development.

Our activities are directed predominantly in awareness-raising, education and bringing together citizens and economic entities to actively take part and collaborate in crime prevention on the local level, for instance in the campaign Man, take care of your city, Hackathon – the technological challenge »Create new digital solutions in the field of security and mobility« and the like.
