Moscow Days in Ljubljana

Between 28 and 30 September 2016, Moscow Days in Ljubljana were held, presenting an excellent opportunity for the cooperation of both capitals in the field of culture, sports and economy.

Moscow Days in Ljubljana were organised on the initiative of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Slovenia Doku Zavgayev in cooperation with Moscow, the City of Ljubljana and Ljubljana’s public institutions and companies.
On the occasion, Mayor Zoran Janković hosted a reception at the City Hall for the Russian delegation led by Sergei E. Cheryomin, the Head of the Department for Foreign Economic Activity and International Relations, and the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Slovenia Doku Zavgayev.
A member of the delegation was also the chess grandmaster Anatoly E. Karpov who signed the Golden Book of Ljubljana and took part in a chess tournament where he played simultaneous chess matches.
Within the framework of Moscow Days in Ljubljana a number of other activities and events were also organised: the directors of both zoos in Moscow and Ljubljana signed a cooperation agreement which covers the exchange of professional staff, experience, good practises and animals, and facilitates the cooperation in programmes for maintenance and quality raising of collections of both organisations; and Deputy Mayor Aleš Čerin opened the exhibition »Moscow on Photographs« by Aleksander Rodchenko in the Historical Atrium of the City Hall.
The days concluded with a gala concert held at the Grand Hotel Union with performances by Alina Yarovaya, Nikita Vlasov, Varvara Kotuzova, Rodion Petrov, RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, Sergei Tatarin and the Loktev Song and Dance Ensemble.
