The Tourist Association of Slovenia gave out an award for the title of My Country – Beautiful and Inviting (Moja dežela - lepa in gostoljubna) and Ljubljana has been named first in the category of large cities.

The campaign was sponsored by the president of Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, and Ljubljana received the award for the following reasons:
Ljubljana was one of this year's hosts of an event on a large scale - the EuroBasket 2013. It was well prepared for the event for the entire Europe.
"There is a whirlwind of events in the city this year. The accompanying programme includes musical and dance shows, street theatre, art fairs on Saturdays, antique fairs on Sundays and additional “cultural-art interventions” besides the existing city offer. The Congress Square (Kongresni trg) has become the centre of cultural, musical and sports-entertaining programme. Since 2013 Ljubljana boasts with new accommodation capacities , culinary offer (culinary event Kulinarična pot and Odprta kuhna on the Pogačar Square 1 as the first food market in Slovenia) and many more.”

The Tourism Association of Slovenia is proud to witness Ljubljana being recognised as a vibrant and developed tourist attraction by a larger numbers of tourists every year and the expert public at home. They will continue to design a rich and diverse tourist offer for every target group in the future.
