New entrepreneurial ideas in ljubljana urban region

The Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region (RRA LUR) has employed ten highly educated young people from the Ljubljana Urban Region for the definite period of time of four months.

Among them are two Doctors of Philosophy, a graduate in physiotherapy and a professor of physical education, who is close to receiving his doctorate.

The tenders were invited by the Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region (RRA LUR) in June and they received 74 applications, and of those 40 candidates were invited to present their entrepreneurial idea.

The committee selected the ideas according to the following criteria: practicality of the idea, knowledge of the participants, new company potential, self-employment or employment in another company, which corresponds to the main objectives of the training. The most convincing ideas originated in different fields. Two of them are technological inventions (highly effective drinking water systems and an electronic goniometer for measuring flexibility of a joint), five come from the field of service (legal consultation of reviving entrepreneurial ideas, communicating heritage through digital technology, Argentinian tango dance school, psychotherapeutic assistance and private day-care centre), and three of the ideas are new products with their first prototypes (Woodster wooden bicycle, Neon Rabbit longboard and an instrument for physical activity).

In the four months of employment within the Entrepreneurially in the Business World 2014 project, financed by the European Social Fund and Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, the candidates will acquire knowledge for developing and realising their entrepreneurial idea The emphasis will be carried out on the basics of entrepreneurship, economics, accounting and finances, cost management, economic law, start-up marketing, employee management and motivation, intellectual property management and acquiring EU funding. The eight hours of their workday will be divided in trainings, lectures, workshops and practical work under the guidance of experienced mentors and lecturers.
