Official visit to vienna

Mayor Zoran Janković and his delegation on an official visit to Vienna on 22 and 23 February 2011.

On the first day of the visit the Mayor is to meet Dr Michael Häupl, Mayor and Governor of Vienna at Vienna City Hall and sign the City of Vienna's Golden Book.

In October 2007 the Mayors of both cities signed a joint declaration in Ljubljana in which the memorandum of understanding between the cities was extended for a further four years. During this visit, Dr Michael Häupl and Zoran Janković will confirm proposals for future co-operation between the cities, on the basis of which it is anticipated that this autumn the memorandum of understanding between the cities will be once again extended for four years.

During the visit, the Mayor and members of his delegation under the leadership of urban planner Blaž Lokar are going to study urban planning-traffic solutions in Vienna, visit the museum quarter and view the emergence of the new railway station, Spittelau incinerator and the Schönbrunn Zoo. Among others, they will also meet the management of the Vienna Exhibition Centre and discuss activities in the fields of pre-school education, education and culture.

Ljubljana has contacts with Vienna in the framework of the Association of the Capital Cities of Central and South-Eastern Europe, the Association of Capitals of EU Member States, and since 1999 direct contact under the umbrella of the memorandum of understanding on partnership between the cities.
