Medieval day

Each autumn, a party of medieval knights assemble in Ljubljana, the seat of the province's governor general, to take part in a knights' tournament.

27 September 2009, 10:00-18:00; old city centre (performers' parade), Trg francoske revolucije square (main programme of events)

Actors, musicians, dancers and other artists from different countries prepare a wide and varied programme of events, accompanied by a medieval market.
The event traditionally opens with a performers' parade through the streets of the old centre of Ljubljana and continues with medieval-costumed performances by living history groups and a medieval market.
The Medieval Day offers glimpses into Slovenia's rich medieval heritage. Visitors to the event have a chance to meet the province's governor general and the nobility he hosts. Other medieval characters to be seen include knights, horsemen, drummers, coin makers, scribes, armourers, cellarers, castle maids and grooms, and noble ladies.
