The 5th European Conference for Social Work Research

On 21 April 2015, the City Hall hosted the accompanying event of the 5th European Conference for Social Work Research entitled 'Media Landscape of Social and Human Rights'.

The keynote speakers at this event were Dr. Shula Ramon of the Anglia Ruskin University (Great Britain) and Miha Lobnik of Legebitra (non-governmental organisation from Ljubljana), who focused on the issue of the impact and efficient exploitation of the media by the non-governmental organisation. Dr. Shula Ramon highlighted different techniques suitable for public appearances and presentations of non-governmental organisations in media, while Miha Lobnik presented his personal experience of communication in media as an LGBT activist. The discussion also unveiled some personal experience of the participants of the event.

The 5th European Conference for Social Work Research, hosted by the Faculty of Social Work, University of Ljubljana, took place between 22 and 24 April 2015 in the Grand Hotel Union. Darja Zaviršek from the Faculty of Social Work, University of Ljubljana and Guy Enosh from the University of Haifa (Israel) presided at the conference, which saw approximately 300 eminent researchers in the field of social work, social protection, social policy and other areas of social sciences. The topic of the conference was the presentation of the latest research in the field of social protection, social work and related topics (e.g. situation of children and women, migrants and ethnic minorities, addicts).

The representative of the City of Ljubljana also participated at the conference with the Rainbow Ljubljana poster and presented good practices of the City of Ljubljana in the LGBT field.
