The New York Times praises Ljubljana
The American media company The New York Times has written that Ljubljana is a model for sustainability for other cities. It showcased the culinary, cultural and experiential beauty of Slovenia's capital, which they say is the centre of culinary innovation in Europe.
Among other things, they pointed out that Ljubljana, which was named European Green Capital in 2016, is still a sustainable role model for other cities, boasting over 1,600 bicycle stations, a car-free city centre and an average of 550 square metres of green space per citizen.
The article also highlighted the remarkable development of Ljubljana's culinary and cultural offer, from Michelin-starred restaurants and the Open Kitchen to the Rog Centre, where we have set up a creative hub in a former bicycle factory, where contemporary designers and masters of traditional crafts intertwine, where ideas develop into products, and gatherings turn into experiences.
The New York Times lists Ljubljana Castle, Plečnik's House, the Križanke Summer Theatre, the Rog Centre, the Triple Bridge, the Cukrarna Gallery, the National and University Library, the National Museum of Slovenia, the Trubar Street, the tour of Plečnik's masterpieces, the Slovene Ethnographic Museum, the Morostig House of Nature and Pile Dwelling, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova as some of the city's must-see attractions.
They also wrote that Ljubljana is perfect for walking and cycling, as it is very easy and cheap to use and rent a bike. They also praised the reliable bus system, which in their opinion is the best form of public transport in the city.
