The oldest wooden wheel in the world came to be also a symbol of progress and recognisability of Slovenia
The oldest wooden wheel in the world, discovered in the vicinity of Vrhnika and now kept in the City Museum Ljubljana, has been made the main symbol of the European Business Press Award.
On the initiative of the Secretary General of the European Business Press Association Slobodan Sibinčič the association is going to award the manager of the year, chosen each year, with a plaque with an exact replica of the wheel.
»The oldest wheel in the world came to be a recognisable European trademark. The replica of our wheel, made by experts in the City Museum Ljubljana, represents a symbol of progress, vision of development and significance of the award it embodies. Because of these attributes the European Business Press Association chose our wheel as an anchorage of understanding what the award stands for and what a significant find our iconic wheel is for the development of the European and global civilisation«, said on the occasion Blaž Peršin, the director of the Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana.
At the presentation of the award the wheel drew a lot of attention. The majority of chief editors and directors of the most important European business media received the new symbol of the award – the oldest wheel in the world – with great interest and supported the initiative of Slobodan Sibinčič for the association to use the wheel replica as a symbol of the award also in the future. This is yet another way the Slovenian wheel, of which different interpretations were already used for a few other awards in the past, is going to achieve greater European recognisability.
