The shanghai expo 2010

A Gold Medal at the Shanghai Expo 2010 goes to the Slovenian pavilion, dedicated to Ljubljana, the current World Book Capital.

At the closing ceremony of the Shanghai Expo 2010, the Slovenian pavilion, dedicated to Ljubljana, the current World Book Capital, was awarded the gold medal for creative interior design in the category of up to 2,000-square-metre pavilions.

This prestigious award places Slovenia amongst the countries whose pavilions received the highest acclaim at the Shanghai Expo 2010. Medals for creative interior design in other size categories were awarded to some of the most attractive pavilions at the exhibition, including those of Saudi Arabia and Sweden and the Pacific Joint Pavilion.

The Slovenian pavilion at the Shanghai Expo, held from 1 May to 31 October 2010, was dedicated to Ljubljana, the current holder of UNESCO's World Book Capital title, and designed to match the motto "Open Book". The pavilion, measuring 1,000 square metres and being one of the smaller pavilions at the exhibition, was designed by the architect Boris Podrecca and the artist Matej Andraž Vogrinčič.
