On Saturday and Sunday, 19 and 20 October 2024, Ljubljana hosted the 28th Ljubljana Marathon, which was for the first time held under the new general sponsor NLB.

Over 24,500 male and female runners participated during the two days.

Preschool children, primary school pupils and secondary school students ran on Saturday, followed by the highlight on Sunday with 10-, 21- and 43-kilometre runs. About 9,300 young runners registered to participate on Saturday, and over 15,200 runners from 86 countries took part in Sunday's trials, which is almost 2,000 more than last year.
