The south-east part of the castle walls at Šance is renovated
South-east part of the castle walls at Šance has been renovated. We have renovated a part of the remains of the fortifications on the castle hill, which was between 1938 and 1939 reworked into a promenade by the architect Jože Plečnik and his team. The renovation, which started on March 15, comprised of a reconstruction of the walls, main stairway, columns, fence, lodges and landscaping the surroundings.

Reception of young Golden Slovenian handball players
On Monday, 30 July, a reception of young Slovenian handball players, who have won the title of European Champions in the category under 20 years, was taking place in front of the Town Hall. The handball players were welcomed also by the mayor Zoran Janković, who presented them with a symbolic gift – a statue of the Ljubljana dragon.

A new public swimming pool in Vevče is to be built
Citizens of Ljubljana and its visitors will be able in just two years time to swim in a new swimming pool Vevče. On the site of a former very popular public swimming pool, which has been abandoned for years now, we will construct a new covered pool together with corresponding infrastructure.

Renovated Hostel Celica opened its doors again
One of the most interesting and popular hostels in the world – Hostel Celica – opened its doors again on 1 July 2018. After 15 years in operation and use the comprehensive renovation of the building was much needed, as it brings added value to the living comfort following contemporary tourist trends and reinforces the recognisability and the concept of the global landmark, which in turn promotes Ljubljana’s trademark.

Plečnik's Ljubljana is the Tourism Campaign of the Year
The Plečnik’s Ljubljana campaign, last year commemorating the 145th anniversary of the birth and the 60th anniversary of the death of the great Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik, brought Ljubljana Tourism the Emerging Europe Tourism Campaign of the Year 2018 award.

Ljubljana Tourism received the Pink Dragon Award
At the Dragon’s Ball gala, closing this year’s Pink Week festival, an innovative project for the promotion of unique top-level experiences and for the promotion of Ljubljana and Slovenia as LGBT-friendly destinations, Ljubljana Tourism received the Pink Dragon Award for its contribution to the development of niche tourism and the introduction of best practices respecting diversity.
