European Award for Silver Economy Initiatives
On the basis of its many years of experience and good practises with regard to activities for the elderly, the City of Ljubljana was invited to serve as an evaluator in a project with the aim of setting up the European award for Silver Economy Initiatives.

European Green Capital 2018 Announcement
On 22 June 2016, the European Green Capital 2018 was announced in Ljubljana. The accompanying programme went on the whole day with diverse events such as the round table titled »Green Cities – Challenges and Experiences« and the presentation of the car sharing system Avant2Go.

The man campaign continues
The City of Ljubljana is continuing its socially responsible campaign »Človek, čuvaj svoje mesto« (»Man, take care of your city«). In its focus is calling attention to picking up dog feces and throwing away bubble gum into garbage bins.

Global Green Destinations Day
On 27 and 28 September 2016, the two-day Global Green Destinations Day conference is going to be held in Ljubljana. It is the main green destination event at global level bringing together leading experts in the field of sustainable development and green tourism.

Cyanometer
At the Ajdovščina platform a Cyanometer has been set up, a monolith measuring the blueness of the sky and showing the quality of air. The installation, an instrument for awareness raising with regard to the quality of air, has been erected as one of the actions within the framework of the title Ljubljana, European Green Capital 2016.

The Golden Diggit Award
The Zelena Ljubljana (Green Ljubljana) and Primavoda websites received the Golden Awards at the digital communications conference DIGGIT.

The Award-winning Ljubljana Puppet Theatre
The performance Duck, Death and the Tulip produced by the Ljubljana Puppet Theatre and directed by Fabrizio Montecchi received the Grand Prix award at the 25th international theatre festival in Poland. This is already the tenth festival award received by this performance.

The new Rog Centre
In early June 2016, a project of urban, architectural and programme revival of the area of the former Rog bicycle factory started, which was converted into the Rog Centre, and thus setting up a new cultural centre for the widest range of users.

2016 Župančič Awards
The Župančič awards ceremony, the highest award granted by the City of Ljubljana for outstanding creation in the field of art, was held at the Ljubljana City Theatre on 8 June 2016. This year a lifetime achievement award was received by Veno Taufer.
