Project Outside: we will support 15 initiatives for a more beautiful public space
Within the framework of the project Outside, with which we are supporting local initiatives of Ljubljana’s citizens, we are going to implement 15 ideas of our citizens this year.

We will cut the grass when the bees are fed
On 20 May, when we mark the World Bee Day, we presented an awareness-raising campaign on the significance of late grass cutting for bees which we titled We will cut the grass when the bees are fed.

Trans-European prevention campaign Speed Control Marathon
Ljubljana is taking part in the trans-European preventive campaign Speed Control Marathon, which started on Wednesday, 20 May 2020.

New allotment area
Ljubljana prioritizes self-sufficiency, so that is why we are continuously expanding gardening areas and taking care of the countryside. This spring we have expanded the network of allotments with a new allotment area Vižmarje-Brod. Thus, we have 943 allotments, in total, spanning over almost 100,000 m2. We are seeing the fastest growth of allotments especially in the vicinity of new residential neighbourhoods.

Rainbow Cities Network 2020 exhibition
On 17 May we are observing the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia with the aim of overcoming prejudices and admonishing violence and discrimination against the LGBT+ community.

With the gradual introduction of relaxing measures of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia with regard to the prevention of coronavirus infections life in Ljubljana is steadily getting back on track.

9 May - The Ljubljana City Holiday
On 9 May each year Ljubljana - the City of Heroes, celebrates its most important holiday when all citizens and residents commemorate the victory of our beautiful city and the Partisan Army over the occupier in 1945.

May, bee month in Ljubljana
The month of May is dedicated to bees, namely, on 20 May we mark the World Bee Day. Ljubljana has been striving hard to create favourable conditions for bees and other pollinators for several years, as by doing so we are further contributing to the preservation of biodiversity in the city and are taking care of our environment, as well.

Taking care of our environment also with cleaning campaigns
Despite the coronavirus epidemic we have not forgotten about our environment, namely, on Wednesday, 29 April 2020, we have organised a cleaning campaign with which we emphasised the importance of a clean and orderly environment.

Ljubljana ZOO reopened
As we are successfully managing the coronavirus epidemic in Slovenia also because of all those who are following the imposed rules and thus preventing the spread of the infection, we have reopened the Ljubljana ZOO on 27 April 2020. In addition to all official instructions, there are a few specific rules to follow.
